Hi everyone,
I just relocated to the UK from Italy and finally found a flat. I need to deposit 4300 £ in cash at my new landlord bank account. I want to know if there is a maximin limit to cash deposits to another person bank account ?
I'm asking this because I don't have UK bank account, and from my Italian account I can't make an online international transfer for more then 4000€. ( I must go the my branch in Rome to make a larger transfer ).

There is no legal maximum figure - though the bank may well ask questions to protect themselves from money laundering. For that sort of amount it's probably just a formality And some banks may set a limit anyway.

I made a cash transfer of 19,000 gbp when I bought my car with no problem but that was UK account to UK account. I also phoned my bank the day before to let them know I would be making the transfer.

No.I have transferred hundreds of thousands at one go , to and from France. With large sums I was required to state what the transfer was for (property purchase etc). But transferring sums of £5,000 never raised any question and went through automatically. I notice that Christies will not accept cash payment for a lot if it is more than £5,000. It may therefore be that only cash payment (in their case often by foreign buyers) over that level demands money laundering enquiry
