probably nothiing, if their joint income is above a certain level
Nothing. If the family income was low enough for benefits they'd have been receiving Income Based JSA
Both answers are correct I know a lot of people in this position , you can work 40 years lose your job through no fault of your own and after 26 JSA weeks nothing.
FF you get contribution based JSA for 26 weeks regardless of family income , it is only after the 26 weeks that you have to claim income based JSA and get nothing if the 'other half' works.

thanx all
I am sure I am right, eddie. Yes I know you can get contribution based JSA for six months based on NI contributions, but if the household income was low enough jesmond would also have been eligible for some Income Based JSA during the six months.

"If you get contribution-based JSA, you may get some income-based JSA as well if you are on a low income and:

have a partner, or
have a disability, or
are caring for a person with a disability, or
have housing costs (eg a mortgage)."

I have claimed CBJSA a few times and each time I have been offered lots of forms to complete about household income, savings, rent etc to identify whether I was also entitled additional support over and above JSA (but because I had more than enough savings and mrsfactor worked there was no point in me applying for these add-ons)
