We've been over paid hb.. I did ring them to tell them about a change in my income, but they didn't lower my payments.. They increased them (because ctc stopped paying due to my income) now I know I owe them.. But I don't have any money to pay them back.. How do they assess wether you can pay them back monthly.. Or am I going to have to give them a lump sum?

They usually take it back from future Housing Benefit payments, if you're entitled to any.

We won't be entitled to any.. I need to tell them that I don't need their help any more.. But worried I'm going to get a huge bill that I can't afford to pay.
They should be happy for you to make payments.

Similar happened to my nephew and they accepted a payment plan without question.
If you knew that you had been overpaid why did you not pay it back straight away - taking it up to the office would have sorted it there and then!

They will take it back depending on the amount over paid!
