Hotel Discounts, But Want Your Credit Card Details??

Holiday inn express are offering a decent discount if you become a member, but you have to give them your credit card details. this seems a little strange, yet thinking about it, you have to give them your credit card details when you book a room anyway.
what you reckon abers?

they are a company I use quite regularly so i have no issues with that - they wont, however, give you points if you book indirectly ie through Expedia or Booking.com.
