I have just logged on to Barclaycard and discovered that we are £53 over our limit. Should I pay the £53 or wait for our monthly payment ?

I would ring Barclaycard, be all apologetic, offer to pay and ask them to waive any penalty charge.
My experience of credit cards is that you can only go over your limit if they add on interest and other charges. If you max your card then these charges will take you over limit. I don't think you can actually spend beyond your limit.
Don't wait for the monthly statement. Phone them; show them you're proactive - and that you can manage your account.
Blimey, there are two Hoppys
