Don't Have A Car Crash In Jersey!

Just found out if you have a car crash in Jersey and the fire brigade and ambulances come out they charge you £20,000 per vehicle.
Just imagine a really serious crash with multiple vehicles how the costs could mount up.
It doesn't bear thinking about. I know the insurance will cover it, but what price the increase in next years premium.

I know someone who had a crash in Jersey a few years ago and was hospitalised. I just texted her this post and her response was that it is bollo x. She didn't have to pay anything.

You hardly 'plan' to have a car crash or not. Just make sure you have full insurance.

The person involved doesn't have to pay, it goes directly to the insurers.

Not much chance of a serious accident when the maximum speed limit is 40mph.

Baza, there may be low speed limits, but that doesn't result in low accident rates.

I know this is a bit off topic but in Canada you have to pay for Ambulance and Fired Department services, We had a small Barn fire with one appliance on site and it was $850 which was paid for through the Insurance though we did have to pay the excess. I find £20,000 a bit over the top - maybe a typo and it should have been £2,000? Sounds more reasonable.

i'd also seen it written somewhere that in the CI, in terms of insurance liability, it's always the tourist's fault. after all, if they'd not been there, the accident would not have happened.

In the UK 54% of road deaths were on rural roads and 40% on urban roads......2007-2009.

Jersey has no points system for banning miscreants and they have a problem with urban racers as well....
