The story of why and how one of Batman's arch enemies became the menace he became.   I don't think I've ever seen Joachin Phoenix in anything before - I've only vaguely heard his name - but in the title role he is a very fine actor.    Given the subject matter I wasn't sure I was going to like it but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I'm looking forward to seeing the sequel with Joachin Phoenix reprising his role and the superb Lady Gaga as his love interest.

Has anyone else seen it - and if so, did you enjoy it?

He was brilliant in Joker, Naomi. And if you've seen Gladiatir, then you've seen him before. He played Commodus, who became Emporer after killing his father.

I watched a trailer of Folie à Deux the other day - it looks very good. I haven't watched the first one yet though so I must make the time to see it.

Yep I saw it, very good, apparently he lived on very little for about 4 months to lose 52lbs to acheive the look needed:

I find these origin type comic book films much better than the out and out super hero ones. There is also a very good TV series running at the moment called "The Penguin" - amazing transformation of Colin Farrell into the title character.

Joaquin Phoenix has been in a lot of big movies - Walk The Line (Johnny Cash biopic) with Reese Witherspoon and Signs with Mel Gibson and, as mentioned, Gladiator, and also Hotel Rwanda. Too many for me to remember.

Being a Marvel and obviously DC fan I hated it, and was depressed after watching it.

I agree about the Penguin series, TTT. Have you ever watched 'Gotham'? There is a very quirky Penguin in that series.

If you were depressed after seeing joker wait until you see joker 2.

Yes, I have seen Gladiator, Ken.  And I didn't know there is a Penguin series.  I'll have a look at that.

Ken, I enjoyed Gotham, Batmans up bringing was no bed of Roses, as shown in the back story.

I haven't seen any of the new Penguin series but Dusty I'll be giving Joker 2 a miss.

Sorry, late to the party here, just thought you may like this 8 min amateur version of Batman/Joker/surprise. I am told the Joker is played by Walter Koenig's son (Chekhov from Star Trek).
