I think it was sensible to move it to 2035. The infrastructure is not up to the job. We struggle to supply enough electricity to power the kettles in the middle of Corrie. Is this government going to bankrupt the nation chasing this impossible dream?

Almost certainly.
Those bleating on about the alleged effects on the economy of Brexit ain't seen nothing. This strategy has already destroyed what was left of the country's steel, fertiliser and chemical industries. Those businesses simply could not continue to operate here in the UK where energy costs are the highest in the developed world.
Car manufacturing will go next. Car makers are to be fined £15,000 for every IC car they sell above the government imposed maximum. This year only 78% of their cars can be IC. Next year it is 72%. Some of them have met that target this year by buying cheap EVs from China (where else?) and selling them under franchise to form part of their total. China can make them cheaply because it has ample supplies of cheap energy produced predominantly from coal.
“On an EV tariff night time rate is 7p/Kwh when there is abundant capacity.”
At the moment. Wait until demand increases. But it isn’t "at home" charging that is the problem (apart from the estimated 50% of car owners who cannot install home charging facilities). It is the “mid journey” charging facilities that are hopelessly inadequate (unless you need a top up when in Central London).
It would not be quite so bad if Mr Miliband (or anybody else for that matter) could explain why this needs to be done. The UK could reduce its emissions to absolute zero tomorrow and it would make absolutely no difference whatsoever to global emissions. No a jot. China burns more coal than the rest of the world put together and, despite continually forecasting a drop in consumption, is actually increasing it every year. The puny amount of emissions from the UK will be replaced by more from China within a week.
Mr Miliband says one of the aims is to reduce he country’s dependence on energy supplies from foreign dictatorship-led countries. Over 60% of the UK’s gas supplies come from that well know dictatorship that is Norway; another 25% from the USA. So where are these dictatorship suppliers Mr Miliband is talking about upon which we are so dependent?
The country has spent more than £200bn on wind and solar power. For about a week earlier this month, solar facilities produced almost nothing and wind was in the low single figures. The “back up” gas supplies accounted at times for more than 75% of demand.
All this country has achieved with its ridiculous “net zero” ambitions is to offshore its emissions to countries where they put their energy security about stupid dogma. It rather like curing pollution in a swimming pool by preventing people from peeing in the shallow end.
And please don’t start me off of the scandal that is Drax “biomass” power station. 😖
"So a TV soap is the new measure of political success or failure."
You may well PYSL, but, not so much now, more in the days when everybody watched "live", breaks in popular TV programmes often saw spikes in demand for electricity. Those responsible for managing that demand recognised that and planned for it.
