Debit card

My Nationwide Flex account has recently been upgraded and my cashpoint card now also acts as a debit (not credit) card. So why does it have a Visa logo on it?

...because Visa issue different types of cards; Debit, Credit, Charge, Corporate, Prepaid etc.

In Europe, Visa have issued 182.8 million Debit Cards (60% of all cards issued) but only 112.8 million Credit Cards.

I'll just add that the Visa symbol tells you that the card will work in any cash machine which also displays that symbol. In the UK that probably means every cash machine in the country but your card will also work throughout the world, to withdraw funds in the local currency, at any ATM with the Visa symbol. (In some countries that might not be all ATMs although, in most western european countries, the majority of ATMs accept Visa cards).

The symbol on ATMs is "VisaPlus"

and visa.com can tell you the location of every ATM in lots of different countries.
As mentioned, Visa does not automatically mean "credit card" - they're just a network of computers through which lots of card transactions go.
