If I marry, would I become jointly liable for my husband's mortgage even if I don't put my name on the deeds or mortgage account.

If he passes away would I inherit his house even if my name was never entered onto the deeds.

I don't want his money, I have my own, I just don't want to be liable for any of his debts. Plus if we divorce, could he take half of all my assets?
Many thanks.

You don't become liable for his mortgage.

You would inherit under the rules of intestacy if he hadn't made a will saying otherwise. If you had children they might get a share too.

If you divorce he gets a negotiable (or court imposed if you can't agree) share of your assets - and you of his. The starting point might well be 50%.

Sounds like you are a candidate for a pre-nuptial agreement.
