Have you had the same trouble with credit cards

I found out some time ago that I was surviving on credit cards, so I cut them all up and contacted them all and sent a statement of my total income. I have also been sending them a token amount each month regular. Why is it that they keep pilling up the interest, instead of freezing it? I might be thick in saying this but if you can't pay what you owe you defiantly can't pay the extra each and every month. Dose anyone know if there is a cut off point. Or is suicide the only way out?? Please let me know
