Had a letter today (dated 25th Dec 2006) saying I haven't made enough NI contributions for 2004/05 year to be couted towards state pension. (372 odd short). I was in FT employment and as far as I am aware, all NI contributions were made, although I did switch jobs during this year (only a 2 week break in between though and was earning 18K odd so two weeks off shouldn't affect it that much?)
Any ideas what may have caused it, whether it could be a mistake and what I can do about it are gratefully rec'd!
Looks a definite mistake - if you were earning 18K for 50 weeks you have paid way over the minimum.
ISTR there was a recent computer error that caused large numbers of unnecessary letters to be sent out; can't remember what year it related to though. Odds-on 2004/05.
Its a mistake - there's thousands of letters been sent out. I had one too. Apparently the computer's been a bad boy. Nothing to do with civil servants.
And I thought it was the humans that programmed the computers.
