Post Office

Returned home on Monday evening after 10 days away. My neighbour called around Tuesday am with a pile of post for me. It had been left on the pathway outside my home and NOT put through the letterbox on my front door. As you will image it was absolutely sodden! My neighbour had attempted to dry it out but I've had a real problem trying to open / separate completely soaked bits of paper. The post all consisted of letters with no bulky packages. There's no reason whatsoever why the post wasn't put through the letterbox. I've made a complaint to the Post Office and they promised to contact me with the outcome of their investigation by the end of the afternoon. Now Wednesday pm and still no telephone call. As per my previous question - Where do I go from here!!!??

Get back onto them. They're pretty crap at dealing with deliveries, but usually pretty effective at dealing with complaints. I've had to moan on quite a few occasions and they've always been v. helpful. you could also try writing to them, re-iterating and confirming your contact on monday.

I can think of a reason. What about plain old human error? I imagine the postman simply dropped your pile of letters and did not realise the mistake. Or maybe some oik stole them from his sack without him realising.

Either way, there appears to be nothing malicious on behalf of the postman. If he had a vendetta against you, he would simply throw your letters away.

The fact your details are on the letters and can easily be traced to who "should" have delivered them, and this is a one off occurrence, I fail to see why you need to pursue the complaint.

Don't get me wrong, Lindylou, I am amongst the first to grumble and complain, but this case simply seems like an unintentional accident with nobody to blame.

If a plain old human error occurs several times as the question strongly insinuates, then I rather think the postie is in need of a kick up the bum, not least because he has committed an offence under RIPA 2000.

Joe the Lion: Thanks for the answer. I might have believed it was an honest mistake - apart from the fact that I wasn't the only one in our street who had their post 'dumped' on their pathway. Although I understand that I am the only one who bothered to make an official complaint.
