Phone your mortgage company and ask them Some will let you take a repayment holiday but usually for a fixed number of months and depending on circumstances.
Yes no and maybe are the answers.

Each mortgage company will have its own policies on this, and one company may have several policies depending on the type of mortgage.

You'll have to ask yours. They'll be happier if you ask them rather than just stop paying.
Please do contact your mortgage provider as soon as possible. As a result of recent increases in the bank interest rate, more people will be finding themselves in the same situation as you and it's important that your provider feels that you are doing all you can to be upfront in your dealings with them, rather than not taking control of your situation. Also sit down and revamp your budget, looking to where you might be able to make other savings. It might help if you can produce this when trying to renegotiate your mortgage to show you're trying tok be in control.
