I'm trying to save up some money, but I have no idea what savings account to use. I'm still studying, and save from my allowance.
So far I have 3000, and I save between 300-750 a month. It really varies. I'd really like something that would let me pay money in but not take it out, because if I know its available, I'll always be tempted to withdraw it and spend it.
I'm currently with HSBC and I use to be on their Regular Saver, however that lets me pay in a maximum of 250 a month only. I currently have 2000 in a High Interest Bond that is maturing in October 2008, and 1000 in a Flexible Saver. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also checkout moneysavingexpert.com and register on their forum.
They have a special section devoted to Savings and Investments and you'll probably get lots of helpful suggestions there.
But if you're saving for the long term as you seem to be, I'd certainly suggest that you use up your 3000 (3600 next tax year) annual Cash ISA allowance.
