you may find you can get a small weekend job too obviously depending on your child's age. This may sound like you will never see your child but I have spoken to several student nurses ( I work at a hospital nursery) and they have all told me although th ecourse is supposed to be full time it isn't when you are doing lessons. They said that most of the time they finished really early in the afternoon or only had to go in for a few hours a day. It is just the placements that you need to do the full time hours on and most supervisors are very sympathetic to your needs when knowing you have a child. They may be flexible with your hours so you can do 3 long days and have 2 off or you could work some nights if you had childcare. I am sure it won't be easy but it will be worth it in the end
very unlikely you would get benefits except the usual child benefits and child tax credits etc, as you are chosing to go to university when you could be working and earning your own money.
Also, i dont think that those n a bursary can get student loans etc, but check with the welfare dept of the uni.
If the childs dad is still alive, could he pay more for a while?
