i worked for the g.p.o has a telephone operator in the 70,s and want toknow if i have a pension with them

I very much doubt if the post office will have this info as they are no longer part of the same company as existed in the 70's.

The old GPO - the telecomms arm of the Post office - was privatised into BT in 1984. Bestmate was therefore a civil servant, and any civil service pension entitlement will therefore still be within the civil service scheme. The Post Office is still the publicly-owned organisation that holds the rump of the business that wasn't moved into BT, so I reckon St Clarion is on the right lines.
