We are a couple with a join mortgage and wish to transfer the mortgage and property to one person (besiacally remove one of us from the titles and mortgage records). The lender (Halifax) have quoted costs of around 160 and we have asked a solicitor to assist as we are not familiar with the relevant tasks associated with making such changes (or if in fact we are allowed to do any of them ourselves). On top of the lenders fee the solicitor has come back with a quote of just under 300 ex VAT and excluding other smaller fees to do with land registry stuff. Is this quote from the solicitor reasonable?
