No.

The claim through the credit card under s.75 of the Credit Consumer Act only makes the credit card company jointly liable with the seller if there is a breach of the Sale of Goods Act, Distance Selling Regulations, if the seller goes bust before you get your goods....

It does not include damage you cause after receiving the goods.

However, SOME credit card companies voluntarily insure goods for a limited period after purchase. You will have to read the terms of conditions of your insurance card.
There is no guarantee that such insurance covers accidental damage.

Have you got the usual House Contents Insurance? If so, does it include accidental damage? You may be able to claim on that.
How on earth did you drop the control on the TV? Even if you did, how the hell did that crack the screen???

Just buy another one and be more careful in future!!!
Maybe you have an accidental damage cover on your home contents insurance.
If you drop something it falls vertical. To crack the screen surely it went horizontal. Your insurance company may be dubious about this

i have accidental home insureance but it isnt worth claiming as theres 100 excess. Im anoyed as its my fault but a portable tv should not crack this easily i know someone with the same tv and his broke easily also but again i doubt currys will accept that and replace it.
If you believe there is a fault with the television, contact Curry's and tell them there is an 'inherent fault' with the television and you want a refund under the Sale of Goods Act.

If the television is under 6 months old, they will have to prove their is not an inherent fault, if it is over that you will.

Contact Trading Standards too, as they may be able to help, especially if there is a record of this happening to other people
