tax returns when on benefits

hy guys ,due to ill health i had to give up work july 2008.since then i have been on incapacitty benefit. i paid about �4000 in tax when working between april 08 and july 08 and i was wanting to ask how i can claim some of this back in april .As im on benefits does this come direct to me or does it go through my benefits and if so will the child support agency now increase my payments because of this .i recon its about �700 i am due ...thanks

Normally it's really easy to claim. Just fill in this form and send it to your tax office. However I'm not sure it applies if you are on incapacity benfit. Ring the tax office

As far as I am aware if you want to claim a Tax Rebate (for whatever reason) you have to contact the relevant (to you) Tax Office,either on the phone or in writing.
When I had any Tax problems I always found them helpful and efficient.

I hope you haven't forgotten that Incapacity Benefit is taxable.
Ethel do you know whether the tax deducted in this case would have been, for benefit purposes, already have been taken into account as gross income? I mean if steven did apply for the refund, and assuming his annual gross is gloing to be under his threshold, the refund would already have been included as gross wouldn't it?

It's always worth claiming a rebate though
