confused!

I have just lost my job due to the stupid recession the country is in!
i need to claim housing benefit to help pay my rent until i can get back on my feet working again, and to claim i need a letter from my landlord explaining my council tax is included in my rent.
The only problem is when i signed my tenancy agreement i was told that they don't accept people with benefits at the shared house.
What other reason could i give to my landlord for needing that letter other then i've started a claim for benefits?
I'm so stressed i don't want to lose my home as well as my job javascript:emoticon('')

Sorry to hear about your job, I'm in a similar position at the minute. I think you're as well to be honest with your landlord - even though your lease states 'no DSS' or whatever, it is probably in their interest to be understanding as it will take time to evict you if it comes to that.
You might be surprised and find they are very understanding anyway.

I too am sorry to hear about your job, but at the time of signing your agreement you were not getting benifits (i persume) if this is the case then you should not worry untill your agreement is up for renewal but they should know if you are consientious payer of your rent also he/she should take on someone with benifits because the DSS would pay him/her direct therefore its guarenteed rent for him/her...
