Could you help me please, as I am unemployed and advised to claim pension credit how far back can they request financial information, I did have some savings some time ago but have nearley used them. Any other advice re these credit will be very much appreciated Thanks

Guarantee credit isn't related to your savings. The system simply looks at your total weekly income. If it's below £130 (for a single person) or £198.45 (if you have a partner) it tops up your income to that level:

I am in receipt of Pension Credit,so can concur with Chris' answer.
The above is incorrect. Savings are taken into account. There is a £10000 disregard so if you have less than this you have no worries. If you have more then £1 is deducted from your pension credit for each £500 over the £10000 that you have.eg. if you have savings of £13,500 then £10,000 would be disregarded and you would have £7 a week deducted (3,500/500=7) Hope this helps
