Placing a charge on a debtor's property is a usually method of enforcement after the debtor has failed to comply with a court order to pay the debt. So, if you've not already gone down that route you should probably start here:

Once you've obtained the charge, you'll still need to get it registered with the Land Registry. The relevant form should be among this lot. (It's possibly 'ACD' but I'd recommend seeking advice from the Land Registry to ensure that you complete the correct paperwork):
