The economy goes in cycles. It will take time but the recession will end. Despite the recessions the overall trend of the economy is upwards. We are far better off than our grandparents were at our age.
Nobody can see the future, but there are trends which tend to play out in similar ways if nothing else changes. The frightening thing is that in the last decade world prices and population have risen logarithmically. Two results are likely, either the figures cause a permanent adjustment as we have many more people and no more resources, or something will bring the natural result of any sharp peak, a sharp fall, although that is the lesser of the two chances as the underlying problems cannot go away.
We have a complex system of a dramatic rise in human beings with no more space or food available. Secondary requirements such as energy are also running out, accelerated by the artificial restrictions imposed by carbon tax and trading. If the roots are rotten then the tree can only follow the same, and I can't see the crooked businesses in league with the even worse politicians cleaning up in a hurry.
