i am not a customer of santander, should i tell them received this c rap
i hope you just deleted it, em.

its just a phishing mail. I get them, and i dont bank with them
I get them all the time from them and Halifax and I don't bank with them either. I just delete too.
this is most definitely spam and a fraudulent email in order to obtain your bank account details , and banks will not send such messages. Please ignore it, and do not open any attachment to it, as they can harm your computer.
Question Author
redc really made my day, its spam, so it goes in the spam bin....
Beware - be VERY aware, don't give any banking details its a SCAM!! I can never understand why people aren't suspicious and willingly give personal details away on the net in answer to these kinds of emails.
NO bank would ever try to contact you this way.
Question Author
i do know, i don't bank with them and never have, i will just delete it.
looks v iffy and like a phishing scam!

i would phone the bank straight away, on a number you look up yourself!

The weird thing is, Barclaycard genuinely send me the most suspicious looking emails. I can't imagine anyone even opening them.

And occasionally they call me on my mobile asking me if i want them to transfer funds for me. The first time I was very rude to the poor guy thinking it was a scam.

Better safe than sorry.
Santander have an address for forwarding potential phishing mails

Every bank has a phishing reporting address. Check your bank's web site to find it.
Question Author
tara have sent it on to santander, thanks

zeuhl, same problem, probably get legitimate e mails from the bank, and phone calls but treat with the utmost suspicion.
Interesting - I get them (supposedly) from every bank except the very one I deal with. The only time I did get an email from my own bank it was to ask me to call them because there was a query on a transaction. Instead, I called the main customer services number as per the bank's website, explained what had happened, and they confirmed the email was genuine duly put me through to appropriate department.

Banks (however money-grabbing and snotty they may be) really don't mind if you call them to check out suspicious emails.
Question Author
indeed, but people are caught out by them, unsuspecting because they look legit.
Yes, it's a scam!
EM10 have a look at the link I have left for you on the Iss post earlier
Yes, I had that one today and also two bogus BT scams.
I had that one today as well............but I do have a Santander account.
No bank would ever contact you this way? How would they do it then, chrissa?
