Who wrote the letter?
Hi all,
Just received a letter from local council this morning saying they were looking into a complaint I had made about the building work being undertaken on the property to the rear of ours. I haven't wrote such a letter so obviously a disgruntled neighbour is so spineless that they have to use somebody else's name :(
Is there any way I can find out where this letter has originated from i.e if it's a letter, would I be able to see the original or, if it's an email, would I be able to see the IP address it originated from.
I've contacted the council who are going to look into this and I'll be nipping round to the adjoining house after work tonight to let them know it wasn't me but I'm SOOOO angry and need to find out who's done this.
Thanks

I know data protection requirements have to be followed but I can't see why they wouldn't show you the letter, since they clearly thought it had come from you. If they seem reluctant maybe you need to change the story a bit and say your memory isn't what it was and can you have another look at it.
I'm not sure how finding out the IP address would help
