How do I sell more with my business?
16 Answers
Hey everyone, Ive recently started my own small business which I really want to take further and make into my full time career after finishing sixth form called 'Abomination Clothing'. At the moment it is only on Facebook however I have been out on the streets promoting it, posted links on Craigslist and got it onto sites such as Freeindex. As far as spreading the word about it goes I think i know what I'm doing however I do also have a problem.
How do I get people to actually buy products?
Ive had a lot of interest in the business so far with people liking what they see and commending the work however I've not sold a great deal as of yet. Does anyone have any tips on how to push for sales more than marketing?
I am trying to get on to Ebay as soon as I have 10 pieces of feedback to open a shop on there nd also plan to up open my eshop as soon as I have enough traffic.
Any tips or strategies would be great thanks.

Try contacting your local newspaper, AntPain, to see if they would be interested in running a feature about your new business in return for one of your shirts to be offered as a competition prize. (That's often a good way to get cheap advertising) .
Also look into the costs of taking a trade...

Also look into the costs of taking a trade stand at some of the smaller music festivals, where you might encounter potential customers.

Perhaps have a look at your pricing?
Have you looked at the prices of your competitors? £45 is perhaps on the high side for a hoodie - ok for a 'name' but when you're starting out and unknown maybe the pricing needs to be a bit keener?
I'm guessing that you don't hold stock of these so I think you'd have to invest in this if you were going to take Chris' advice and sell these at festivals.
Also, why ask for a deposit when taking orders? It would come across as more professional to simply take the money in advance as most other online companies do. It would also save any problems of purchasers not paying the final £15.

Well I'm not young and trendy so can't comment on your probucts but having just had a very quick squiz can't see how you would buy one anyway!
I am not a techno person so could easily have missed it.......
I also agree with twenty20 they do seem a bit pricey for a not known brand but agian I am not in the age range for these clothes.
All your peers may be on facebook but an awful lot of people still like to have a proper (shop for me lol) web site to view and buy securely. Was there a link to yours? Again if there were I missed it.

Disturbia hoodies are £45 but they are a well established brand, you should definitely consider lowering your prices as others have said.

Okay, even at 6.36 am your website is slow and it takes too many clicks to get to actually see the garment. I too think that you need to go for keener prices and a less cluttered look to your website, also consider the text. Are people who are looking for that look REALLY going to be interested in washing instructions. If you mean that your tee shirts will fade and shrink if not washed on cool temps, maybe look for better quality printing and fabric.
You actually get people to buy product by having what they want at a price they will pay.....simples.

Your contact page consists of a hotmail account, a mobile phone and no address. I doubt you will get many people trusting this.
If you have the domain abominationclothing.co.uk, you should be able to set up addresses such as info or sales @abominationclothing.co.uk. Also, a landline and a full postal address would get people a little more trusting in your brand.
