Hello, can anyone out there help me with this question?
Ebay have asked me to upgrade to a `business seller` status just because of the amount (volume) of items I have sold lately on Ebay. They have given me until the 9th of this month (january) to do it. I rang them and said that I am definately not a business seller it`s just that we have to sell my mother`s house to pay for her care in a nursing home and items in the house had been put on Ebay by me in order to clear the house...along with some items I was going to sell anyway...
I am not and do not want to be classed as a business seller. They told me that they still have to class me as a business seller but if the `volume` of items for sale goes down by the next 6 or so months then I can ask to be NOT a business seller once more.
Does anyone know please; what do I do to stay as I am? Many thanks! x

I can't remember the detail but they do have to report on large traders to be sure that tax etc is being paid - as I recall. I don't think you can stay as you are - could you not try listing less items per month, to keep below the limit over which they think you a trader rather than a private individual?
Hi again, thankyou for answer. They have given a seemingly strict deadline as the 9th to become a business seller so I suppose I shall just have to do it and put things on slowly, here and there until they realise that I`m not a big seller and that I`ll be able to go back to just being `private` seller again, many thanks to both of you, x
