debt collection organisations?
3 Answers
Has anyone had any experience of this type of firm: one can 'sell' a debt to them and then they take the responsibility of getting the money. I imagine if such firms do exist they charge quite a percentage to take on the debt. However it might be a way out of my situation detailed in my question/story a little while ago. I am now quite anxious about it.

Reading your last question you refer to a considerable sum of money and that they are in Ireland. Debt collection firms won't buy your debt either but you should be able to take out a civil action for recovery in the UK.If the husband is working and you can obtain judgement you may get an attachment of earnings order or better still some sort of legal charge on the property
Harley: Thanks. I have trawled the net and found the Community Legal Service Direct. That service is sending me info. and the verbal advice was along the lines you outline. What a relief that I probably have some redress, largely easier because the husband works here, unpleasant a route though it is. Thanks for your trouble.
