We're all told about the dangers at ATM machines and to shield the pad when entering your pin. However, are there any pictures of what we might find suspicious when taking money out?

Thanks for that Chuck. They look like they are quite easy to spot ie, sticking out of the fascia a bit more.
I always give the motion of entering six digits, but only actually press four.
The crooks will be working on each new anti-skimming device the day it is installed.

An additional card exclusively for ATM machines with a simple thumb swipe sensor would stop most of the crims.
hopkirk, your pin is only to stop the small time crook. Your security code on the back makes it easy to syphon anyone's account. The stolen card IDs are 'traded' on the black market.

As soon as you notice a very small unknown debit to your account (it may be as small as 10p and tagged as a trans.charge, which nobody would like to make a fuss about) you need to contact the bank without delay. That is probably a test transaction to ensure yours is a valid account by the 'purchaser' of your card's particulars.
thumb swipes using fingerprints pose more risk of violence... forced swipes or even thumb removal. itd have to be something like a laptop touchpad
