Just thought I'd share.

'No more payments any more'. Very liberating.

I Know what you mean Mosaic, I remember having an argument with my Dad when my Daughter first moved out about the pros and cons of renting or buying as she was only 18, I'm so glad she got the chance then to get a mortgage, that's 12 years ago, she would have no chance now.
What with the employment situation as well I too feel sorry for the younger generation.

Congratulations Mosaic, welcome to the club.
Lucky you Mosaic I'm jealous but pleased for you, I bet you wonder where the years have gone .
Congratulations Mosaic, it is a lovely feeling isn't it.
Couldn't complete on mine due to ill health but sold up and bought elsewhere outright - totally agree, it's great to know it's all yours and no further expense except for maintenance and insurance.

Don't even think of the years or the money!
Just feel sad that younger people are paying mad prices for somewhere to live. T'ain't right.

You lucky thing.
I still owe £1 on mine, but fortunately they don't charge me interest in that :)

OOOh trishy - living dangerously....send them the pound and a request for a receipt.
Which will cost them more than a pound to send to you....
The point in owing £1 of course is to have them store the deeds for you and keep the mortgage account open.

I still have a fairly small balance but it will be cleared within two years. I could clear it now if I used all my savings but as it's a joint mortgage but not joint savings that won't be happening!

I've overpaid mine consistently for over a decade. Said when I took it out I'd clear it in less than 15 years and will do. In fact it's only 11 years now and it'll be cleared by year 13.
It is a lovely feeling, such a relief to have that over with.
My mum did the same- kept £1 and they stored her deeds. Is there any need for deeds to be kept anywhere now though- I thought registered titles were held electronically now
I got rid of mine and then went and got another :-/
Least its only over 5 years though
