I have just received an e-mail from [email protected] saying "this is a receipt for your payment (£18) for an on line number subscription for 3 months".
I do have a Skpe number but only use the free service and did not ask for a subscription. I do have a Paypal a/c but only use for e-bay.
There is a note on the e-mail that says "cancel payment". So far nothing has been taken from my Paypal a/c. I am reluctant to reply or click on any commands on the e-mail for obvious reasons but wonder if anyone has received a similar e-mail

Report it as spam, and thanks for the heads-up - it's likely to be doing the rounds.
You are correct not to click on any of it's links.
I think the sender address of the email indicates this is some kind of scam. Do not click on any commands on the email!!!!
Replied on your other thread.
It is a scam, if you click on the 'cancel payment' option it asks for bank and card details. I have one as well, report it by forwarding to [email protected]
then delete it from your email.
Just to add to this version of the thread as well
Please ! if you have got this forward it to [email protected] paypal will want to taks action on this it is a major scam and very nearly fooled me. It looks exactly like a real paypal message and it got through my spam filters no previous paypal / ebay scam has done that.
I report loads of phishing emails, eddie51, to the reporting addresses lloyds, halifax, santander, paypal etc but I'm not sure it makes much difference a sthe emails keep coming. I suppose if a spoof site is closed down they can re-open within seconds.
To be fair to Paypal though, they do acknowledge by emails- no-one else does
F30 I agree but as I said the worry with this one is that it was not recognised as phishing by my hotmail filters, they have got all the other paypal/ ebay scams . I have reported it to paypal and as a phishing scam to hotmail.
I have two scams received today.

Seems to me there are so many of these going on we should all be very cautious and just dont open any links you are even faintly suspicious about.
....don't forget the snail mail ones.....straight in the bin.
