I just phoned my car insurance company to change my address with them and it cost me 35.00. Not because of the change of area, just because of the admin costs. Does anyone else find that incredible. God I hate insurance companies!

I got charged in exactly the same way when I moved too !! I moved 10 miles up the road to arguably a better area where my car would now be parked on the drive (as opposed to residents' parking space).

Not a single other company charged for the "administration" involved in changing my address ..... utilities, council tax, house insurance, life insurance, credit cards, bank, book club etc.

I think car insurance cos. are struggling generally because of the huge claims increasingly caused by uninsured drivers. The honest among us end up paying for this and the co. will claw back anything they possibly can. I almost wondered whether or not I should have waited until the policy was up for renewal and told them then, but I know that would have invalidated my policy.

i also got charged when i moved i cant remember how much but i remember being very annoyed! i changed comanies when it came to renewal time!

I think they will just do anything to get money out of you.I paid a grand for my insurance as it was. If it is for the fact that I am paying for uninsured drivers and false claims then that makes me even more mad. Why should I have to pay for those scum bums. Plus my tax is due and I have to get a new cambelt this week. Think ill flog the car and get a push bike. Cycling 25 miles to work every day can't be that bad.
tell them you painted your house door a different colour and theyll probably charge you for that aswell- any excuse

Name and shame!!!!

Who are these companies?

I insure with Tesco and have never been charged for moving house!

Well I'm with the Allen and Allen group but I think I'm going to Tescos when I need to renue it. My insurance will be cut in half!
Tesco car insurance charges too - I moved not even 2 miles away from my old home and they charged something like 20!
and have you noticed how, at renewal time, the insurance company writes to you to say "we have searched for the best deal possible" - and yet you can still find it cheaper elsewhere. And then you go back to your original insurer, say you are not renewing, and suddenly they can match the deal you've just found....

Intriguing, isn't it

Moral: ALWAYS look around before renewing insurances
the world is a horrible place :(

www.carinsuresupermarket.com or .co.uk

If you are paying for your insurance over 10 months, an d you already have more than 5yrs no claims, I would tell them to ****** off, move your insurance and save some money. You can't lose out really as if you haven't paid out in full for the year then you can't really lose any money. Just an extra year in NCB.

if you do canx with them you will probably find there is a cancellation charge and if you don't pay it they can withold your no claims bonus
