I have just been appointment treasurer for a branch of a national charity and am looking for some free accounting software that would be useful. I have signed up for QuickFile and Wave. Has anyone any experience of using either of these and are they any good? Is there anything better that does not cost.

I have a very old version of Quicken that I use for household accounts. Is this as good or would I be better using one of the others?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

For such a simple task I'd just use Excel (or OpenOffice Calc). It has the advantage of being able to email the spreadsheet to committee members, with each of them being able to view it without needing to have the same specialist accounting program on their computers that you'd have on yours (if you opted to use such a program).

If you insist on having an accounting program, GnuCash is popular:

I feel your pain! One of these fine days I'm going to have to find an alternative to Microsoft Money which I've been using to run my home and business accounts since the early 90s...
Microsoft Dynamics is a scalable accounting, CRM and ERP product for growing companies.
If you go on-line and look for GNU Cash Download this is a very good free Accounts package and available for both Windows and Linux.
