Tracing pension entitlement
5 Answers
I have a friend who used to work for DRG in Bristol. He is sure that he is due an occupational pension but has never received one. He contacted Legal & General who he thinks is the scheme's administrator but they have no records for him. DRG were acquired by someone else years ago and he does not know how to find out if he has an entitlement. Does anybody out there have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

If he was in the scheme for less than 2 years he may have accepted the offer of a refund of contributions when he left DRG, in which case there would be no entitlement now.
If he is convinced he was in the scheme he needs to find some paperwork, even if it's just one annual pension statement, a letter showing his pension/employee number or a payslip showing pension deductions.

Your friend should call the HMRC Pension tracing line on 08459 150150, they will need their NI number when they make the call and at certain times be prepared to wait a while I'm afraid.
I use this all the time in my work and its excellent, They can tell you dates of entry and resignation from schemes and usually who is currently administrating the scheme. Hope this helps ...

Hi romancing. Welcome to Answerbank. I'm not sure why a link to a German site would help here though.
Roddles- apart from using the Pension Tracing Service (and make sure you use right one not one from scammers who'll want some money), you may want to look at this
