Horrible Week, Last Week

Haven't been on the computer for over a week, had a horrible week last week, just getting back to normal. Got up last wednesday, let the dogs out while I had breakfast, got them back in , went to work. OH was laid off and made the most of it with a lie in, had a frantic phone call from him about half 11, he had got up and found one of our spaniels lying on the floor, tongue hanging out, mess everywhere, he had, had a stroke. By the time I got back, OH had cleaned up and had him lying on a pile of towels on the couch. The movement and feeling in his front legs came back fairly quickly, and he was drinking normally, but his back legs were worrying us , so took him to the vets, expecting her to perhaps give him a sedative and let him come back to normal in his own time. Vet said his back legs were completley paralysed, and he had suffered internal bleeding and had to be put down. We have had two old dogs in the past who have had strokes and both recovered perfectly and lived for many more years, so this was a complete shock.
Our two spaniels have never been apart, and when we came home without him, we were upset, and our other dog is still looking for him and whining a week on. So sad, X

Thanks everybody, thanks for the hugs Queenie, I needed that. We had him cremated, going to pick up the ashes on Friday, We have got a static caravan down the coast, going to scatter his ashes in the garden there. X

He was only 8, young for a dog, he had a lovely life with us though, we had him as a rescue dog, when we got him, he had never been for a walk and didn't know what to do when we put lead on him, he soon learnt tho.
