Reminds me of a site I stumbled across some while ago called themoneymasters (US oriented). Was there I first learnt of the bank's privilege to effectively just create money to loan out. (Called fractional reserve IIRC, but it's been a while since i read up on it.) I trusted financial institutions rather less after that. I'm unsure how necessary this practice is to the economy, but it leaves a 'nasty taste' letting an institution basically create money. If I did it, it'd be called counterfeiting.

OG It really is strange. The fractional lending is now x10. I.e. if you pay £1 into the bank they can create £9 and lend it out. This actually means that if you put your money in the bank only 10% of it is actually safe. I dont know if there ever will be an economic collapse but all we earn, all we work for is not for money it is just based on someones opinion of how much they think people should have. What makes it EVEN WORSE is that it is not the government who controls it. It is a privatised bank called The Bank of England. Who actually runs this country then?
Fractional lending has always been used in banking- I remember learning about it at school in the early 70s in Economics 'o' level

Lol HD. Yeah, that'll do.
Suit situation is I haven't been to pick it up, but have called them and spoke to the lady I saw yesterday.
She said "most of it has come out, but it's still visible". Apparently, if I'd have taken them there straight away, they'd probably have been able to remove the whole stain.
That'll teach me for sitting on answerbank...
