Some British Gas Customers Overpaying On Gas And Electricity
4 Answers
Some British Gas customers that signed up to a fixed-price tariff two years ago have been significantly overpaying for their gas and electricity, the Guardian has reported.
In some cases comparison website TheEnergyShop.com found that customers were being overcharged by more than £800 per month compared to if they had been on a more suitable tariff. This would have cost certain customers £9,600 per year in unnecessary payments.
On average, customers overpaid by £480 per month more when compared to the bill they would be facing on the most competitive fixed tariff offered by one of British Gas' rivals.
Many frustrated energy customers are instead choosing to have heating oil tanks installed so they can control their own supply in a much simpler manner than those offered by large energy companies like British Gas.

I think the OP means the average customer overpaid by £480 a year, no per month.
To a certain extent, if the customers signed up and did not work out the sums then it is as much their fault as Brotish Gas who are a business not a charity.
