i would change the locks and claim that u had to over a set of keys stolen from u, however u may be legaly expected to grant her entry at anytime of her choosing if she has property inside and until your fully own it from her. Hope it all goes smoothly for u soon
Unless you suspect that she may let herself in and ransack the place in your absence, then I think it would look very mean-spirited and childish to change the locks before the settlement is complete. Once it is, you can ask for the return of the keys. If they are not forthcoming , then just get the locks changed
You would be fine doing this. There is no law against changing the locks, even if you are husband and wife. The issue comes when she demands a copy key and should you refuse her she may be able to go for a whole range of offences such as theft (if she thinks you are trying to keep her bits and pieces) and no doubt a property related offence as you are keeping her from her own property.

Like Emily says, ask for the keys back, what possible use can she have for them?

...although return of the keys does not mean that other copies do not exist.

thanks for the response guys, im going to wait a bit longer before i change them.

Changing the locks on a property that still (legally) belongs also to a partner/spouse/joint tenant,is a criminal act;and as such the Police will prosecute. They will also,if necessary enable admittance for the said partner/spouse/joint tenant to the property (break in). Please not that if the Police do have to break in,YOU will be liable for reapir to the damage caused.

If I were you I would wait until this is finished COMPLETELY!

This based on two friends of ours,in much the same situation as you.
