When you get a message telling you that one of your connections has endorsed you, does this imply they have actively endorsed you or is it a broadbrush thing?

I don't really use LinkedIn and am starting to feel a teeny-weeny bit stalked by someone :-(

When you make a connection, you get a box that comes up and asks if you'd like to endorse your new connection as begin good at this or that or some other thing. It seems like a new connection of yours did so; it's harmless.
It can be either, in my own experience. I often find some connections who are very keen to extend and expand their own networking, who will routinely update their own profiles and work skills, and will offer endorsements to people they barely know simply in the hope they will get an endorsement in return.

Others I know are more discriminating, only offering endorsements of people and services they have experienced, and only where it is warranted....

Not a massive fan of Linked In myself......there are far better ways of building your business than business to business networking and mutual back-scratching... :)

I agree with LazyGun. Since signing up with LinkedIn (on the suggestion of a crossword setting friend) I've found that most things I'm endorsed for are things I've never done! I certainly don't blame the people I know who are signed up - I just think there are fundamental flaws in the way skills are selected as endorsable.

Thank you.

I'm not sure why I originally signed up to LinkedIn but have let it grow as I'm bemused by the people who want to connect with me.

I've had a couple of endorsements and not really understood how they work. One endorser has been ringing me and is now endorsing me and I was a curious if it was just another nudge to call them back and to reinforce their presence.
