I know true well Ummmm - if it had have happened today I would have got thousands for pain, anguish, mental, trauma and so it goes on. No compo was based on it being "flesh". Sometimes I do recall that it could have been much worse as I could have lost my eye that night so I am grateful it was my leg. How did we get here £200 to being shot hahhah LOL

Claims were lodged against the government. If you were thought to have acted in a way that contributed to your injuries you'd get nothing. A man who lost both his legs when he was shot with a shotgun was refused because he had been a member of a paramilitary group.

One pint of milk at most supermarkets these days seems to be around 50p, so that 3,200 pints would cost £1,600. And probably rather cheaper, since 2 pints is 90p.

in one of the newspapers (can't remember which), a currency constant used to compare historical values was the mars bar.

in 1972, they were 4p each (the decimal equivalent of 9d, which is what they'd been at decimalisation the year before). £200 would have bought 5000 bars. Today to buy the same amount would require £2950.00, using the price of 59p each (at ASDA).

The Mars Bar index used to be pretty useful, but does it take account of the size? mars Bars seem a little smaller to me now than they did when i was a child- or is it just that my hands and mouth are bigger?
