I have recently partitioned my studio flat to create a 1 bed flat, it is council owned and did not get prior consent, i am now in process of remortgaging and my solicitor has told me to take indemnity insurance, then apply for retrospective consent, how does this indemnity cover work???

the indemnity is to cover costs if the council do not give consent.
