I am 63 and retired on a company pension.I am on no benefits of any kind.Until fairly recently I have been in averagely good health.Five weeks ago I was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease. I have savings in excess of £30000 will this disbar me from receiving sick benefit /disability living allowance once I get a long-term sick note from my doctor ?

It's all change in the sickness payments and dla.
As far as I know you do not qualify for statutory sick pay as this is paid for by your employer. I can't imagine why you'd want a sick note from your GP as this is only useful to claim SSP or sickness benefit if you are working.

DLA no longer exists for new claimants over the age of 16. Instead you should be looking at this:
https://www.gov.uk/pip

Note the age restrictions. Hopefully you will be able bodied for many years to come but if you need to claim for PIP you must be 64 and under.

Once you are 65 or over you would need to claim Attendance Allowance:
https://www.gov.uk/attendance-allowance/overview

As far as I know there is no savings restrictions on either benefits.
SSP isn't relevant because you're not employed.

ESA might similarly be unavailable because of your retired status (but it might still be worth applying).

DLA is being replaced by PIP, which is available up to the age of 64 and is not means-tested:

Thereafter Attendance Allowance applies, where relevant:
