My mother receives a UK pension in respect of my now deceased father, as he worked in the UK during his life for the merchant navy. I was told that she is entitled to a fuel grant from the UK government due to her circumstances. Does anyone know how she can apply for this? Thank you.

Are you referring to the 'winter fuel allowance'?
I was in Ireland in the summer and a relative of my husbands said they could get the winter fuel allowance as they'd worked here briefly in the early 60's (only for a couple of years). She rang the government dpt who are sending her some forms to complete. Unbelieveable!
