Can you bank a ripped Cheque??

I received a cheque throught the post today, thought i had placed it somewhere else other than back in the envelope....and ripped the envelope in half hence ripping the cheque in half too. Can i still bank this cheque or do i have to get another one issued to me??

I accidentally ripped a cheque and my bank accepted it OK- (Royal Bank of Scotland).

Yeah, should not be a problem, id just sellotape the halves back together and ask nicely!!
