how much would it cost to by premium bonds now. years ago they would cost as little as £1 or £5 to start off, any help appreciated thanks.

Still £1, but you have to buy a minimum of £100. You can still buy at your local Post Office, as long as you're not paying cash, so you can pay by debit card or cheque.
