Yesterday I visited an acquaintance who is an excellent baker and she offered me a slice of a freshly made, gorgeous looking gateau. She cut a huge slice and I said it was too much for me so she said she would have that piece and cut me a smaller slice. She then licked the knife clean before cutting me a slice. There was no way on earth I could eat it. Luckily there was a knock at the door and when she went to answer it I scooped the gateau into my handbag.
Have you any idea how far a squidgy piece of gateau spreads inside a handbag?
Would you have eaten it? (the cake, not the handbag lol)
Why do people do this!?! On Come Dine With Me they taste the food they are cooking and Dave Lamb (the excellent narrator) always screams "don't put the spoon back in" and they always do!
Get a dog to clean your handbag - every last crumb will be removed.
Ok you may have to wait a few days to get your keys and phone back and there may be a bit of saliva to deal with but that will be better than the handbag full of cake....probably
I wouldn't have eaten it and I would have said something like, 'I don't want that now you've licked the knife.'
If no one says anything, she'll keep doing it.
if anyone has decided that a large slice of cake was to much for me, i'd of been far too busy being upset over that... (and cake snatching) to notice the knife licking incident
