Paddocks +/-3 acres in 3 fields, not in great state but we will get them cleaned up and any posts and wire to be replaced. Water available, access to a horse box.....what would/do you pay in rent for something comparable.

Got a prospective tenant who wants to put 2 ponies on the land...

Thanks

probably one of the most important bits of the equation is missing : where?
Depends on where you live. What do you mean access to 'horse box? -do you mean a shelter or an actual stable? Is there anywhere to store hay and feed? anywhere to tack up? Plain grass livery where we are is around £10 per pony per week with no facilities or up to £20 per pony with stabling and storage. Be very carefull who you let on your land and make sure you have a contract! A neighboring farmer let a man put three horses on his land and he ended up putting 12 on and stopped paying rent -the Police were called in the end but it took 18 months to get them off!

Down here boxtops.....

there will be a contract, numbers limited to three, liability defined, maintenance and upkeep defined etc etc....

No stabling, the land has access from a private lane and a landrover (or equiv) with a horsebox can get down the track. She comes with a recommendation from a neighbour, so that is encouraging.

sorry, bednobs!
I would say £40 per calendar month per pony. Also stipulate she has to 'poo pick' the droppings as this will keep the land fresher, and that she uses the fields on a rotation, sticking to only one or two in the winter months to prevent too much damage.
hi DT 30 quid a week and here there is no way you would get 3 acres to put 2 horses on

Thanks folk, my view is 1000 a year and a copy of the insurance policy for liability. Fortunately, the land is nicely back from the road, a country lane.
ruth you must live somewhere really expensive! When we moved back from canada we brought two horses with us and had to have them in livery for a while until we built facilities at home.-it was only £10 per week per horse grass livery and we had stables if we wanted them. The going rate in riding stables near us is £25 per week DIY with stable, bedding and use of riding arena.

thanks again - sorry been watching the (excellent) Paxman programme on Churchill.
Be careful what info you give away DTC, someone in my county got the gypsy horses invading their fields when they wanted to rent it out.

It stays private between her, her landlord and the local family that own the land around us, Ann.
