Is Severance Pay Taxable

A bit out of my depth on this one .. does anyone know >>>
After having been taken through a 'Capability Process' if you were to be dismissed at the 'Capability' hearing .. is the severance payment taxable ?

The payment will consist of 12 weeks back dated holiday pay and another
14 weeks for the notice period to be given by the employer to terminate the employment at short notice .. as in.. 1 week for every year spent in that employment.
In all it will be 26 weeks pay.

.. There are no disciplinary actions involved ..

I feel no one gets taken to a capability process for no reason, dnt think we getting the full story here!! Not nice to be questioned is it on a simple ask for advice, please think about things before you write your hurtful comments.

Barry .. I am so sorry for not getting back to you sooner. This post may well be a bit beyond you. But all I can say is I have received a great deal of helpful information from it and I hope so have others that have shown interest.
There are some clever people on Answerbank, experts in many fields.
The information that has been offered is so extesive I have been guilty of not choosing a 'Best Answer'.. but how can I when there are so many good answers ... I thank everyone who has contributed.
You are right .. you are not getting the full story, but there again you must have missed the posts of 18.10 and 18.15
Anyone with a clue would have read these posts and then realised that .. I couldn't tell the full story.
Nobody has questioned me and no it was not 'a simple ask for advice'.
It was a very complicated ask for advice as I have yet to find anyone who really knows a great deal about the capability process other than the very helpful Answerbank members who took the time to answer my query.
I feel a tad hurt as you state I have made hurtful comments towards another contributor on this post.
Having read every post thouroughly again, I fail to see what you are reading ?

I will ask you only one thing ... what kind of person would 'troll' through a perfectly reasonable post that ended more than 7 months ago and then starts slinging insults around ....
