New Zealand State Pension/ Uk Contributions
8 Answers
I have lived and worked in the UK for over 10 years paying national insurance and tax. If I was to return to New Zealand can I get some sort of credit towards qualifying for the New Zealand State Pension for this time?
Thank you

um no Jack
if you read the question - can you transfer UK conts to a NZ pension
and I have dug out the answer to the question "can NZ conts count toward a British pension" - which you will notice if you Read the Question is the other way round but the answer is still a surprising 'yes'.
I found out the answer only because I know my way around the gov uk site
the info will be there somewhere on an NZ computer and I think the answer is a surprising 'Yes' as well but god knows where .....

When you get your pension forecast from the DWP one of the questions is 'have you ever worked outside the UK?' If the answers is Yes , they tell you that pension 'contribution years' into foreign state ( not private) pension schemes count towards your UK state pension. You have to be able to provide proof of the contributions to claim. I had worked for 3 years in Zambia and paid into their state pension but I could not prove it.
Still had enough UK years to get my full pension though. The pension service operator I was speaking to said that it worked both ways, UK contributions count towards other state pension schemes. So yes dsvd it counts, but you will need proof of your UK contributions.
